I'm getting my first car soon and I found a yellow Volkswagen beetle in really nice condition for a good price but my dad thinks its a bad idea because I would have to take care of the top from this crazy bipolar Memphis weather, is there a lot of work to take care of it or what?is this even a good idea?

03 Ford Focus problem, can anyone give me an idea what might be up with it?
I have an 03 Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 petrol car.
It's a good little car with only just over 50k on clock, but it's got a couple of issues. I know I need to take the car to a mechanic and get it properly looked at but just wondering if there is anyone on here who might have an idea what's wrong with it and could tell me what I'm gonna be looking at price wise.
Basically for the last month or so the first time I drive the car it is very juddery, it acts as though I am in the wrong gear when I am not. For example if I turn a corner in second gear it sort of jumps and kangaroos a bit. Also when I accelerate it does it too. This lasts for the first 5-10 mins or so and once the car seems "warmed up" it tends to stop and run fine. Then for the rest of the day drives normally, until the next day I come to use it for the first time the problem starts again.
Also the driver side headlight keeps blowing, this is the 6th one we have had in this year so surely there is something up with the electrics as I've never had to change a headlight so frequently.
Any tips or advice will be much appreciated, thanks!!!
