I have a 2002 Ford Mondeo Mk3 with a Duratec HE 1.8 petrol engine.
Here is a picture of the engine:

I need to know where it is so I can work out if it is rattling or not. Thanks.
Follow the s shaped plastic tube from the air filter box. When it becomes metal and has 4 pipes going to the block, thats the manifold. Highly doubtful that it will be rattling (makes more of a clunk if loose which is never)
Because of the number of plastic and tin covers fitted to this engine, rattles and squeaks are inevitable. Get someone to rev the engine when you have the bonnet open to track them down. You may find that differing revs will cause different items to rattle (sympathetic resonance) so you may need to hold the revs at different points to isolate each one.
Hi
It's the black plastic unit on the front of the engine which has a black hose going to the airbox.
It may be the intake shut off unit which is rattling. It could also be the timing chain.
Very best regards
Geordie
It wont be rattling thats for sure
If it was rattling it would be loose and the car would not run properly or maybe at all
Its the black plastic pipe at the front which has 4 branches coming away from the engine and down. If i was more computer litterate i would ring the bit on your picture for you.
